Buying A RV: New Or Used?

If you're traveling long distances and extended periods of time, few things can beat an RV for comfort or convenience. It's simply the best way to journey if you enjoy bringing home on the road with you. However, they don't come inexpensively; you'll have to set aside a down payment if you want to own one completely. Renting an RV isn't much of an option because it gets expensive if you go often but is a great we to try out a model before you buy.

So you've already decided about purchasing an RV for yourself and your family. One difficulty remains: should you buy a used RV, or a brand-new RV? Each side has its own cons and pros with several different aspects, but you'll have to eventually decide and you may want to speak to a professional RV repair man. There are a few things you need to think about before you sign on the dotted line and invest in an RV.

As with buying used cars, the biggest part of getting your RV used is the low price. It may vary depending on the RV that you've found, just make sure you check with all of the local dealerships and also your classified advertising. Look for those models that are no longer sold on a regular basis, they're obsolete in ways that won't matter to you unless you're looking for brand-new RVs.

As with any other used vehicle make sure that regular maintenance has been done and have it thoroughly checked out with a reputable RV repair man. Expect to have mechanical difficulties down the road even with good maintenance, it's the same as if you bought a used car, things do break and need repair. Set a budget for yourself on your RV, then look for one that is an older model but has been well cared for and you won't have to worry about all the damage that can be done to some of the newer models.

While a brand-new RV is expensive, the warrantees and guarantees that come with one may make it worthwhile. If you must have a brand-new RV look to one that was last year's model, you'll find them discounted by quite a bit. If you must have the latest model and design, make sure that you're getting the best deal available by shopping with your online RV websites as well as your downtown dealership's.

The nice thing about a brand-new RV is that you're getting all of the latest conveniences, safety technology as well as a brand-new smell. If you do have problems with your brand-new RV, of course, it's going to be under warrantee so you won't have to worry about repairs. Just make sure you also are purchasing a maintenance contract along with the extended RV warranty.

Whether you choose new or a used RV, there's no doubt you're going to enjoy your new home away from home while you travel.

We fell into our routine again rather quickly after getting back on the road. I told the wife that we'd be putting on some serious miles today. She just smiled and reminded me not to drive once I started to get tired.
